Most clients want dark oak, or mahogany to match their decor. These are the only natural oak columns I've ever made. They are quite lovely.
With natural, unstained wood, you can't use filler and you can't hide any mistakes. They have been finished with several coats of oil and then polished with beeswax.
The globes are hand turned and painted birch balls, held in place with long, threaded metal pins. The height difference was achieved with an extra piece of turning which, whilst not quite "corinthian", looks the part very nicely.
Because they have my own tops, rather than brass ones, these would cost 270 (with rests).
