This kind of column is not very often seen. They were made in Birmingham around the turn of the century. Although they are enormous, they are ideal for small pedestals because you only remove and lay down the top half. The base remains upright.

When these were handed to me they had no globes and great chunks were missing. The SW's had already had its base replaced by someone who didn't realise the whole thing should be shorter than the JW's. He had to use an oversize block to try and bring its height level. I don't think the shaft is original either, (which only leaves the massive brass capital!) The next image is of a magnificent pair in original condition.

If you have a pair that appear to be damaged beyond recovery, it might be worth e-mailing me to discover what can be done for them.
